Welcome Back!

WRITTEN IN MARCH
by William Wordsworth

The cock is crowing,
The stream is flowing,
The small birds twitter,
The lake doth glitter
The green field sleeps in the sun;
The oldest and youngest
Are at work with the strongest;
The cattle are grazing,
Their heads never raising;
There are forty feeding like one!

Like an army defeated
The snow hath retreated,
And now doth fare ill
On the top of the bare hill;
The plowboy is whooping—anon-anon:
There's joy in the mountains;
There's life in the fountains;
Small clouds are sailing,
Blue sky prevailing;
The rain is over and gone!

  1. Love your robin photo! Our robins are kinda skinny. From the poem you quoted, I'm getting a faint impression you might be looking forward to spring and summer. Is that possible?

  2. Oops, I forgot to answer your question. Yes, grandmother's house is, well, not actually ON a golf course, but is just a few yards away. It's the same course on which I intend to go test my skills at batting that stupid little white ball around in just a few minutes!

    How'd you know????

  3. Re: Spring and summer, Lowell. Spring, yes. . . summer, depends. Not a fan of "too hot, too soon" conditions. Of course, we have to take it as it comes, right?

  4. A lyrical, pastoral feel - so long, rain!
