Make Mine Orange

This post may not be quite as interesting as the one I intended to write (I wanted to share photos of my Alaskan friend who is an avid hunter and commercial fisherma... woman. There's one of her kneeling next to a bear at least the size of my car.) But since it's summer—an especially hot one at that—I thought I'd share this easy but refreshing recipe. I was introduced to Orange Julius when I lived in Florida many years ago. A trip to the mall became a bit more appealing for my three young children since the treat was available there. I'm not sure where this recipe originated but I know it's at least as old as my elder "child." Enjoy!

Orange Julius
1/2 of a 6 oz. can (1/3 cup) frozen orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
5-6 ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in blender container; cover and blend until smooth (about 30 seconds). Serve immediately. Makes approximately 3 cups.

  3. Yummy - I thought about making this a week ago for the girls, but then got busy doing something else. I used to modify the recipe to make it more orangy...love it!

  4. Hmmm... I didn't know you you added more orange juice, Stephanie. Does that make it taste even better? Jessie got herself a blender so she could make it for Rob. He loved it.
