Keep the Red Out

I recently purchased this hummingbird feeder after the one I had for years started to leak. I learned from the source I got it from that hummingbirds should not be given food dye, that clear nectar is the only way to go. There is usually enough color on the feeders to attract the birds they said. The colors don't even have to be red to entice them to give the feeder a try,  although red is their favorite color.

  1. The humming birds are all over the place lately, but we don't have a feeder. They like the bee balm. How are you?

  2. I'm doing well, Lori. This post was just for you. As you see, it's been some time since I've posted anything. I wanted to help you figure the iPad thing out. Glad it worked for you.

Thank you for the bee balm tip. So, where do I get that and how is it served to the hummingbirds?

  3. I didn't know that about the red dye. Our daughter in Colorado has a couple of feeders like this hanging off a 2nd floor balcony and the hummingbirds love it. I'll have to ask her what she uses.

Thank you for your comment on Images and I love your porch!

  4. We stopped using feeders because they attracted big black ants . . . but there are enough red and pink flowers in the yard now to satisfy the hummingbirds and they flit in and out all day long. xx
